Evolution of Coto Coyotes Swim Team Design

In 2005, Todd Conrad, the newly appointed Aquatics Director at Coto de Caza and Head Coach of the Coto Coyotes at the time, approached his roommate Eugene Recto (eRecto) to create a design for a tshirt for their upcoming AA Championship Meet. eRecto came up with two quick sketches for the team to vote on which one they would want for their shirts. Before finalization, the “Legless Coyote” design went quick to print for the Championship shirts. The design soon became the new unofficial logo of the Coto Coyotes Swim Team, appearing on numerous products and replacing the former logo which was a scarfed coyote.

eRecto was asked again to create designs for the 2007 team tshirt (the “Coto Wave”) and the 2007 Cotton Candy Bowl:

When eRecto decided to start up sickStar, it’s first commission was the 2007 Coto J.O. Max / Junior Olympics Swim Meet team shirts in which the current Coyote logo was introduced (which now has legs). This Coyote logo has since seen different variations for new itemsWith Todd Conrad as the new Head Coach of the Coto Coyotes, the club’s small summertime program turned into a “year-round nationally recognized program”. With Coto being recognized for its excellence, sickStar decided to create an online avenue in which not only gear could be purchased, but apparel with the team logo as well.
